i was a bethelite for some time a couple of years ago.
some of the best days for bethelites were when there was ice cream for dessert.
now, they are asking (new release video at conventions) kids to give away ice creams money... for what?

this post-apocalyptic world is not recycled gray, it is blazingly colorful australian desert terrain with wide shots that will stop your heart.have you ever seen an heironymous bosch painting of hell with its where's waldo panoply of brutish, demonic, figures inflicting torments willy-nilly as far as the eye can see?
well, fury road makes bosch look like a knit-one-purl-two doily maker at a sunday brunch.. director miller has thought about this movie, planned it, sketched it, worked it, perfected it millisecond by millisecond before scene one was ever shot.one second of onscreen activity has more interesting business happening than two hours spent by a voyeur in a nudist colony of playboy bunnies.. what is watching this film all about?

This movie is rad. Easily the best action movie since Terminator 2.
I was surprised to see a LOTR comparison. All 6 of those movies are super long and drawn out slog fests broken up by some OK action sequences. Everything in Fury Road is tight and the action sequences are used to tell the story not just to have action for its own sake.

yeah the remake isn't very good. part of it is because back in the 70's, Manhattan was a total shithole so the dirt and grime really adds to the atmosphere. I love movies that take place in this era because of this.
When you get time, I'm sure you can find a list of classic American New Wave films. Definitely watch as many of those as you can find.

Yes Scanners is an amazing movie but please don't watch sequels.
Phase IV is an interesting if only to see Saul Bass' only feature film.
The Robert Wise adaptation of Andromeda Strain is pretty good (much better than the recent A&E version)
